Search for the best interior design firms in Europe and you will mostly find lists published by furniture brands, often featuring their own customers. This guide uses a stricter rule. A studio appears here only if an independent jury or editor has recognised its work, such as the Dezeen Awards, the Iconic Awards, the German Design Award, the FRAME Awards or the Prix Versailles. We also checked the basic facts on its own website. Every claim has a source at the end.
Unlike the US, where giant firms dominate the biggest interior design firms in the world, Europe's leaders are mostly mid-sized studios with a strong signature. That makes the choice more personal, and more important.
Italy
Dimorestudio (Milan) was founded in 2003 by Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci and works on homes, hotels and shops. In November 2025 it was named interior designer of the year at the Dezeen Awards, one of the most international juries in the field. Its interiors are known for rich colour, layered vintage pieces and a cinematic sense of atmosphere.
France
PYR, the studio of Pierre-Yves Rochon, is known for grand hotel interiors and was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame in 2025. Studio Asaï (Paris) won the large residential interior category at the Dezeen Awards 2025 for an apartment in the Bois de Boulogne.
United Kingdom
London has the deepest bench of interior studios in Europe. Universal Design Studio won the large workplace interior category at the Dezeen Awards 2025 for Norton Folgate. Studio Hagen Hall won the kitchen interior category the same year. Rose Uniacke is on Architectural Digest's AD100 list for 2026. TNN Studio was the overall regional winner for Europe at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2025. Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, founded in 2000, is a long-established hospitality specialist with an office in New York since 2012.
Spain
Lucas Muñoz Muñoz (Madrid) received the honorary title of interior designer of the year at the Iconic Awards 2025, run by the German Design Council, for the MO de Movimiento restaurant in Madrid. Lázaro Rosa-Violán Studio (Barcelona) is one of Europe's most sought-after restaurant and hotel designers and won a Prix Versailles for Europe in 2017. Masquespacio (Valencia), founded in 2010, is known for colourful hospitality and retail interiors.
Netherlands and the Nordic countries
i29 interior architects (Amsterdam area), founded in 2002, won House of the Year at the FRAME Awards 2019. In Scandinavia, Norm Architects (Copenhagen, 2008) and Note Design Studio (Stockholm, 2008) are known for calm, material-led interiors. Both studios list Dezeen Awards wins on their own sites.
Ukraine
Mirzoyan was named emerging interior designer of the year at the Dezeen Awards 2025, a sign of how strong the Ukrainian design scene has become.
Switzerland and Austria
RAUMTAKT (Zurich) reports a German Design Award 2025 in interior architecture and an iF Gold award for the Monami head office in Zurich. BWM Designers & Architects (Vienna), founded in 2004, specialises in hotels; its Hotel Indigo Vienna won an SBID International Design Award in 2023.
Germany: the best interior design firms in detail
Germany combines strong engineering culture with a well-organised profession. Two things are worth knowing before you hire.
"Innenarchitekt" is a protected title. Only people entered in the list of a state chamber of architects (Architektenkammer) may use it. A studio calling itself "Interior Design" may be excellent, but only a registered Innenarchitekt carries the title and the professional liability that comes with it.
Fees often follow the HOAI. The official fee regulation covers interiors, and its rates have been guidance rather than binding since 2021. We explain the numbers in how much an interior designer costs.

Many more strong German studios, such as KINZO in Berlin, work mainly on offices and are known through their projects rather than awards. For a German project, ask any studio for completed work in your sector and for the registration of the person who signs the plans.
Europe's interior design awards to watch
If you want to know who is doing the best work this year, these juries are the most useful signals:
- Dezeen Awards (London), with an interior designer of the year and categories by project type.
- FRAME Awards (Netherlands), focused on interiors.
- Iconic Awards and German Design Award (German Design Council).
- Prix Versailles (Paris), for hotels, restaurants and shops.
- Restaurant & Bar Design Awards (London).
How to choose among the best interior design firms in Europe
Start with the sector. Hotel specialists such as JOI-Design, BWM and Lázaro Rosa-Violán think in operator standards and guest flow. Residential studios think about one family's life.
Check who can do what. If walls move or services change, you may need a registered architect or Innenarchitekt; see architect vs interior designer.
